BIOGRAPHY

The young Colombian tenor Andrés Agudelo graduated from the Universidad Central in Bogota and later from La Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris, the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Paris and the Queen Sophia School of Music in Madrid. In 2017, he was nominated by conductor David Stern for the Opera Studio (Opera Fuoco) in Paris. From 2019 to 2021, he was a member of the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich.

In the 2024/25 season, Andrés will sing Alfredo in LA TRAVIATA at the Glyndebourne Festival and Pong in TURNADOT at the Bavarian State Opera. He will debut as Tenor Solo in Verdi’s REQUIEM with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and will sing Flavio in NORMA at the Opera de Toulon.

Recent projects include his role debuts of Il Conte Almaviva/IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIO at Teatro Verdi in Salerno as well as his role debut of Alfredo/La TRAVIATA at Opera Darmstadt. At Opéra de Toulon, Andrés debuted as Beppe in Leoncavallo’s PAGLIACCI and sung Harry/LA FANCIULLA DEL WEST, Heinrich/TANNHÄUSER, Offizier/ARIADNEAUF NAXOS, Messagero/AIDA, and Gastone/LA TRAVIATA at the Bavarian State Opera Munich. On the concert stage he was guest at Theater an der Wien and sung with the MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig (Estevez’s CANTATA CRIOLLA).

Solo performances include Beethoven's 9th SYMPHONY with the Young Symphonic Orchestra of Colombia, Mozart's REQUIEM with the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Patrick Fournillier, VESPERAE SOLLENES DE CONFESSORE with the Paris Chamber Orchestra conducted by Arianne Matiakh, and Dvorak's STABAT MATER with L'Atelier des Songes in Paris. He also sang in Bach's B minor MASS under David Stern at the Philharmonie de Paris and Shanghai Symphony Hall, and in2015 was engaged as soloist in the Colombia-Venezuela Jubilee Concert in Beethoven's Choral Fantasy conducted by Gustavo Dudamel at the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogotá. In 2019, he was also a guest at the closing festival of the Bach Fest in Leipzig at the Thomaskirche with Bach's B minor MESSE.

Andrés is winner of several prizes, amongst them the Thierry, Mermod Prize as the best student of the Opera Academy from Verbier Festival (2018), the Alejandro Gutierrez Medal from the Caldas-Colombian government (2017) as well as several prizes in Latin America.
