Albanian baritone Gëzim Myshketa has established an international career with a particular focus on the Italian repertoire and has increasingly become associated with the major Verdi baritone roles. His repertoire includes the title roles in Macbeth, Nabucco and Rigoletto, Renato in Un ballo in maschera, Giorgio Germont in La traviata, Don Carlo di Vargas in La forza del destino and Ford in Falstaff, alongside the title roles in Don Giovanni and Rossini’s Guillaume Tell.

He has appeared at leading opera houses and festivals including the Arena di Verona, Staatsoper Stuttgart, Staatsoper Hamburg, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opernhaus Zürich, Teatro Real Madrid, Teatro di San Carlo, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, New National Theatre Tokyo, Opéra de Marseille, Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse and Opéra national du Rhin.

2026/27 SEASON

During the 2026/27 season, Gëzim Myshketa returns to the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona as Il Marito in Menotti’s Amelia al ballo, conducted by Francesco Ommassini.

From January 2027, he appears as Giorgio Germont in Verdi’s La traviata at Theater Kiel, a role he has previously performed at houses including the Teatro Real Madrid, Staatsoper Hamburg, Oper Leipzig and Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier.

RECENT HIGHLIGHTS

Recent highlights include Giorgio Germont in La traviata at the Teatro Real Madrid and Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier, Renato in Un ballo in maschera at the Opéra de Marseille, the title role of Nabucco at the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse and the title role of Rossini’s Guillaume Tell at the New National Theatre Tokyo.

Further recent engagements include Alfio in Cavalleria rusticana at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Lord Guglielmo Cecil in Maria Stuarda at the Staatsoper Hamburg, Ford in Falstaff in Lille, Luxembourg and Caen, and appearances at the Royal Opera House Muscat.

An important chapter of his career has been his relationship with the Staatsoper Stuttgart, where he made his acclaimed debut as Ford in Falstaff and subsequently returned for productions including La traviata, La bohème, Carmen, Faust, Le nozze di Figaro, I puritani and Iphigénie en Tauride.

Myshketa has worked with conductors including Daniel Oren, Michele Mariotti, Nello Santi, Paolo Arrivabeni, Philippe Auguin, Maurizio Benini and Frédéric Chaslin, and with directors including Robert Carsen, Damiano Michieletto, Graham Vick, Calixto Bieito, Giancarlo del Monaco and Pier Luigi Pizzi.

Born in Albania, he studied at the Conservatorio Arrigo Boito in Parma and launched his professional career after winning the As.Li.Co competition in 2006.
