BIOGRAPHY

JiaZhou Wang is a young Chinese baritone currently a member of the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. He completed his studies at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and studies under the renowned baritone Pietro Spagnoli. Despite his early stage of training, he has already begun to attract international attention.

In 2025, Wang was selected as a full member of the Accademia Rossiniana at the Rossini Opera Festival, one of the most prestigious platforms for emerging Rossini singers. At just 20 years old, he performed a leading role in Il viaggio a Reims within the festival, marking a significant milestone in his young career. Following this success, he was invited by Festival Director Luca Canonici to participate in the Belcanto Age Festival, further confirming his growing presence in the bel canto repertoire.

Wang has already built a diverse operatic repertoire, including roles such as Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), Don Alvaro (Il viaggio a Reims), Riccardo (I Puritani), and Marcello (La bohème). He has also appeared in opera galas, performing excerpts from major baritone roles across Mozart, Verdi, and Puccini.

On the concert stage, his repertoire includes works such as Symphony No. 9 by Ludwig van Beethoven and Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, demonstrating both stylistic versatility and vocal range.

A prizewinner of the 75th Concorso Internazionale di Canto Viotti, Wang was awarded both First Prize and the “Best Baritone Award” (Cesare Bardelli Prize), becoming the first Chinese artist in the history of the competition to receive this distinction.

With a combination of musical intelligence, stylistic flexibility, and a rapidly expanding repertoire, JiaZhou Wang represents a new generation of baritones to watch closely on the international stage.
